Ice Cream & Scooby-Doo
Most of us, irrespective of our age, know and love Scooby-Doo
and the wonderful series of adventures with Shaggy and the
rest of 'the gang' in their Mystery Machine. Their visits
to the local Malt Shop were always fun to watch and see what
Scooby-Doo and Shaggy could conjure up to order.
One episode I remember well sees Scooby-Doo eating
a chocolate ice cream sundae - with a straw! Daphne and
the others hardly dare believe it but of course, being
Scooby-Doo, he manages it!
That wasn't the only time that ice cream was featured. In fact,
there was an episode devoted entirely to ice cream called "The Ghosts of the Bad Humor Man".
After an accident in the Mystery Machine, the gang try to
make a call from "The Happy Humor Ice Cream Factory" but they
find another mystery in need of unravelling when they discover
the vanilla, chocolate and strawberry Technicolor Phantoms.
Yes, ice cream ghosts!

Children love the 'spooky' element of the Scooby-Doo stories especially when haunted castles are involved! Parents and teachers can use this kind of interest to lead into more serious educational areas such as medieval castles. In addition, you can bring medieval history into the context of Halloween and perhaps buy some medieval costumes for children - from knights to jesters to damsels in distress, you can find them all on Amazon. On Halloween you could also try out my Gothic ice cream recipe here! Grey, sticky and incredibly delicious, it's hard to resist.
